Anita Baker got that net worth with a prolific music career, winning eight Grammys, making four platinum records, and two gold albums. Anita began her career in the late-1970’s using the funk group Chapter 8, as well as in 1983 released her first solo album, The Songstress. In 1986, Anita grew to stardom after the launch of her platinum-selling second album, Rapture, which contained the Grammy-winning single, “Sweet Love.” Baker was born in Toledo, Ohio and in age two was left by her mother and raised with a foster family in Detroit, Michigan.

By the time Baker was 16, two was singing R&B in Detroit clubs, and was found by David Washington, from Chapter 8 during one of her performances. Two took a short hiatus after her tour in 1996, but finally returned to the studio in 2000. Baker married Walter Bridgeforth, Jr. on December 24, 1988. The of them finalized her divorce from Walter Bridgeforth in 2007 and now lives in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
