He studied architecture in the University of Oregon. He took film courses and attended local theatres. After graduating he traveled to Hong Kong. He began to model and film director Yonfan viewed his advertisement and approached Wu about starring in a picture. Daniel Wu was an associate of the Chinese boy band Alive. Wu wrote and directed The Heavenly Kings in 2006. After that it had been found out the group Alive had just been formed to encourage the picture. He won the best new director award in the 26th Hong Kong Film Awards. He’s been a representative for L’Oreal and Seiko. Daniel wed Lisa S. in 2010 and the couple has a daughter together.
