Mike Krzyzeski, also called Coach K, is the longtime trainer of the Duke Blue Devils. He also coached the US men’s Olympic team to a gold medal success. Coach K has led the Blue Devils to 27 NCAA Tournament berths in the previous 28 years. His dad was an elevator operator and his mom worked nights as a cleaning woman. He attended St. Helen Elementary School and went to the Archbishop Weber High School in Chicago. Coach K is a grad of the United States Military Academy at West Point, in Nyc. From 1966 to 1969 he played point guard, shooting guard for the Army basketball team. Krzyzeski has gotten training offers from four NBA teams, L.A. Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics and the New Jersey Nets. Mike Krzyzeski has refused all offers for training positions for the NBA, and had determined that Duke University is where he desires to stay. Krzyzeski has additionally been assistant coach and head coach of several U.S. teams, leading them to the FIBA World Championships, the FIBA America’s Tournaments, Goodwill Games, Summer Olympics, and the Bejing Olympics. He’s married to Carol Marsh from Alexandria, Virginia, and have three daughters, Debbie Savarino, Linda Frasher, and Jaimie Spatola. They’re also the proud grandparents of five grandchildren, Joey, Carlyn, Michael and Emelia Savarino and Quin Frasher.
